Bird Boxes, Feeders, Bee Bricks etc.

Whatever the size of your park, it is very important to give nature a helping hand, by erecting nesting boxes and other ‘artificial’ habitats. Bird, bat and owl boxes are obvious choices as are ‘bee bricks’ and other insect homes. To make sure that they provide maximum benefit to wildlife, please ensure that all artificial homes are well implemented and provide sufficient variety. In particular, bird boxes with entrance holes of 25mm and 32mm should be provided and should be placed in a variety of orientations. Larger boxes for birds of prey should also be provided where appropriate.

Alongside this, it makes sense to encourage visitors and residents to ‘feed the birds’ and set up their own feeding/watering stations next to their caravans and tents. A no-cat or ‘bell-the-cat’ policy is also vital to give wildlife another helping hand.
